Empowering Young Voices to Drive Local Health & Budget Advocacy

SYO joined a one-day advocacy and budget training at Coast General Referral Hospital in Chaani, hosted by NAYA with TAYO.

Underlining the importance of civic participation in local health governance, Stretchers Youth Organization joined a one-day advocacy and budget training organized by the Network for Adolescent and Youth of Africa (NAYA) in partnership with TAYO. The workshop took place at the Coast General Referral Hospital in Chaani.

Facilitators walked participants through the county budget cycle, how public participation works, and what a useful public memorandum needs to contain.

Group sessions focused on health challenges facing adolescents and young people in Mombasa. Two priorities stood out: the Health Revolving Fund, and how budget lines can serve primary and adolescent care; and youth-friendly health services that are confidential, non-judgmental, and actually reachable.

By strengthening young leaders to track budgets and submit evidence-based inputs, SYO and its partners keep youth perspectives inside local governance and health infrastructure.
