Stretchers Youth Organization

Thematic area

Democracy and good governance

Strong communities are built when every voice is heard, every citizen is informed, and every leader is accountable.

Democracy is more than a vote on election day. It is the chance to take part in decisions that shape education, healthcare, livelihoods, safety, and the future. It needs informed citizens, transparent institutions, and inclusive leadership.

For many young people, women, and marginalized communities, democracy still feels distant. Limited civic education, misinformation, political violence, and low public participation keep people out of governance.

SYO bridges citizens and decision-makers. Civic education, leadership development, community dialogues, digital advocacy, peacebuilding, and partnerships equip young people to influence change. Ride for Peace 2027 is one expression of that work: peaceful dialogue before, during, and beyond elections.

Democracy does not begin in parliament. It begins in homes, schools, communities, and everyday conversations.
