Mental health
Promote emotional wellbeing, reduce stigma, encourage early help-seeking, and strengthen community support.
Thematic area
Every young person deserves the chance to live a healthy, hopeful, and fulfilling life.
Growing up is not always easy. For many young people, adolescence is filled with questions and life-changing decisions: managing stress and anxiety, navigating relationships and sexuality, coping with family or academic pressure, or resisting drugs and alcohol.
Too often those struggles are faced in silence. Stigma keeps adolescents from speaking about mental health. Misinformation about sexual and reproductive health leaves them exposed to poor outcomes, unintended pregnancies, sexually transmitted infections, and gender-based violence. Alcohol and drug use continues to threaten health, safety, and potential.
At SYO we have sat in classrooms where students were overwhelmed by anxiety and afraid of being judged. We have listened to young people looking for honest conversations about their bodies, relationships, and futures. We have worked with schools, hospitals, parents, and communities supporting adolescents who needed someone willing to listen.
Our health and wellbeing programmes take a holistic approach. Physical health, mental wellbeing, and social support are connected. Through community outreach, school programmes, digital campaigns, counselling referrals, and partnerships, we equip young people with practical knowledge, life skills, and access to services.
Improving health is about more than preventing illness. It is about confidence, resilience, and making sure every young person feels seen, heard, and supported.
