International Migrants Day 2024
Migrant workers from Kilifi, Kwale, and Mombasa marked a day dedicated to their labour rights.
On International Migrants Day 2024, SYO joined efforts to spotlight the contributions of migrant workers. The theme was “Honoring the Contributions of Migrants and Respecting Their Labour Rights.”
The celebration brought together migrant workers from Kilifi, Kwale, and Mombasa, advocates, and guests. One panel examined policy and legislation that protect migrant workers, including the gaps that remain. A second focused on rights and awareness, so workers have the knowledge to safeguard themselves.
SYO reaffirmed its commitment to advocacy and direct support so migrant workers are heard, their labour rights are upheld, and their contributions are celebrated.
